Revolution Square

Revolution Square

Bezeq Building > 07.06-14.06

The city square is the place where people meet to chat about their day; to confide in each other and to disagree with each other; the place where people co-experience the days, the nights and those unforgettable pivotal moments. Even today, in the era of social networks and virtual partnerships, there is no substitute for social gatherings at city squares. They continue to function as the central meeting place in times when people need to unite and share meaningful communal occasions – moments of joy, sorrow, solidarity or protest. In the past, the Bezeq Building also operated a type of central square – a telephone switchboard that connected people and enabled information exchanges, a communications technology market whose activities reflected the day’s routine, the holidays and the days when an aberrant event disrupted the routine. The market arena will operate a square – a revolution square. During the Jerusalem Design Week, the space will host a mechanism which will create a daily revolution. The revolutions will be color-coded and each additional content (and sometimes, the very holding of the revolution has its own importance) will be defined according to the aesthetics that will be created and according to the activities of the designers who will be working in that space. The designers will function during the days as ‘providers of design services specializing in the field of revolutions.’ During the evenings, ‘street performers’ will use the square in order to express themselves
